New to Canada? The Y helps new immigrants make Canada home. We offer a variety of free programs to help newcomers learn about life and work in Canada, practice English and make new immigrant and Canadian-born friends.

Join a conversation club

From toonies to toques, there's lot to learn in the English language! Our English Conversation Clubs are a great way to build English language skills, meet new friends and learn more about life in Canada.

  3. Remember to bring your PR card to your first session!

Interested in having fun with other newcomers? Our Social and Educational Events are just for you! These fun, free events happen monthly and are specially planned for immigrant individuals and families (long-term Canadian residents are welcome too as volunteers!).

Become a Citizen

Thinking about becoming a citizen? Our Citizenship Preparation and Participation course offers support in learning the Discover Canada Study Guide and helps newcomers prepare to take the Canadian Citizenship Test. Participants explore the multiple ways they can be active Canadian citizens through this fun 10-week program.

Get Active

What could be better than being active and meeting new people? The Canadian Fitness Connection program mixes fitness and recreational activities with workshops about living and working in Canada. In this free 12-week program, participants learn ways to stay fit while practicing English, meeting new friends and exploring Canadian life and culture.

Explore a Career in Childcare 

A career in childcare can be both rewarding and exciting. Childcare Career Exploration is a 10-week course offering participants the opportunity to meet childcare professionals currently working in the field, strengthen communication skills, and receive one-to-one support with resume writing and/or education planning.
