Opportunity Summary

As a membership volunteer you will be required to:

  • Engage with members and guests - saying hello, goodbye, building relationships
  • Contribute to creating a positive experience for all of our members and guests
  • Answer general membership, program, and facility questions
  • Provide facility tours to prospective members
  • Share YMCA Strong Kids Campaign message to members and guests
  • Help with various daily operational tasks
  • Be available weekdays between 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm and weekends between 9:00 am - 2:00 pm with a minimum commitment of 2 hours per week


  • Connect with the YMCA community
  • Give back to the YMCA and be part of a non-profit, charitable organization
  • Learn about diversity within the YMCA
  • Gain valuable customer service experience in a high energy, fast-paced environment


  • Applicants must be at least 17 years old
  • Previous customer service experience is an asset
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced team environment
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Must be positive, cheerful and approachable
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Reliable and flexible

Our Commitment to the Protection of Children and Vulnerable Adults

The YMCA is committed to the protection of children in our care and vulnerable adults participating in our programs.  To ensure this commitment is upheld, all volunteers will need to provide:

  • A current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date
  • Three references  (two of these should be professional references)
